Setup
Halo replaces your existing switch one-for-one. No hub required, no neutral wire required for single-pole circuits, and no electrician required for most homes — though we always recommend one if you're not confident working with mains wiring.
Switch off the breaker for the circuit you're working on, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester before touching any wiring.
Unscrew the existing switch and pull it from the wallbox. Take a photo of the wiring before disconnecting anything.
Halo uses standard line, load, and neutral terminals. Match them to your existing wires — no neutral wire needed for single-pole runs.
Fold the wiring gently into the wallbox and screw the Halo plate flush against the wall. The brass rocker should sit level.
Flip the breaker back on, then add the switch in the Halo app or directly via Matter from your existing smart home hub.
